Medical Oncology

Medical Oncology is a medical unit that provides services regarding the treatment processes and follow-up plans of patients diagnosed with cancer. In our hospital’s Medical Oncology department, the follow-up and treatment of patients diagnosed with cancer are planned and implemented.

Commonly performed procedures in our Medical Oncology department include:

Chemotherapy: Chemotherapy is a chemical treatment method used to kill rapidly growing cells in the body. Since cancer cells multiply much faster than other cells in the body, chemotherapy is used for the treatment of cancer diseases. Depending on the type and stage of cancer, different chemotherapy drugs can be used in combination. Unlike traditional chemotherapy, smart drugs aimed at ensuring patient comfort are personalized and administered. In our Medical Oncology department, cancer treatments include chemotherapy, targeted smart drugs and molecules, hormone therapy, immunotherapy, and biological therapies.

Immunotherapy: Immunotherapy is another type of cancer treatment. Unlike chemotherapy, which uses chemical drugs, immunotherapy aims to enhance the body’s defense against cancer through biological support. Laboratory-developed drugs are used to strengthen the immune system. These drugs support the immune system to prevent the growth of cancer cells and stop the spread of cancer to other parts of the body.

The types of cancer diagnosed and treated in our Medical Oncology Department include:

Lung Cancer Breast Cancer Gastrointestinal Cancers Head and Neck Cancers Brain Tumors Pancreatic Cancer Liver Cancers Biliary Tract Cancers Malignant Mesenchymal Tumors Kidney and Bladder Cancers Prostate Cancer Melanomas and Lymphomas Thyroid Cancer Testicular Cancer Ovarian-Endometrial-Cervical Cancers
